If you were not able to attend the Virginia Derby July 18 at Colonial Downs in New Kent County, you missed a wonderful time. I was in a skybox with a crowd attending our firm’s annual client event on the day of  the race. Even with the scratching of Nicanor, brother to Barbaro who won the 2006 Kentucky Derby and then tragically broke his leg in the Preakness, the field for the Derby was strong and competitive. The win by Battle of Hastings was by a nose in a photo finish. Exciting!
